Princeton Junction: Grounds For Sculpture
On 24th June 2005, [Donald] took me to Rat's restaurant in Princeton Junction, NJ. Outside is a sculpture garden called "Grounds for Sculpture", which, as the light was failing and the dinner table waiting, we only had half an hour or so to explore.
I should have noted the artists, titles and dates of the pieces.
This smallish tree pagoda with giraffes (about 75cm tall, on a pedestal about half a metre off the ground) was simply the first sculpture at which I rememebered I had my new camera with me. It was not altogether pleasing, especially the roots of the trees snaking over the steps. How do the trees stay upright? I wondered. It all looked rather Morph-like.

Donald is just visible through this milled aluminium number which reminded me of the lamp I made at school, and also of the faces/candlestick illusion, only cut in half and with the halves reflected in the vertical axis.
This three-headed colossus dwarfs Donald and his girlfriend Kim.
I couldn't resist trying to photograph this bit of sky, but when I had enough of the sky in shot the camera stopped making the trees lighter.
Donald took this picture of me waiting in line for food in this copy of the FDR memorial in Washington.
This looks like an immense virus to me, in a rather more elegant version of the pools around the Louvre pyramids. I like the way the sides curve asymmetrically.
